Shelves!

Maybe you aren't as excited by shelving as I am. Maybe you already have a kitchen with adequate storage AND countertop space, then. Here's my new reorganized wall behind the sink with IKEA shelves stained in Antique. Baskets for vitamins and things, bread crock and Bee House, maybe even wine glasses on the top. Very useful and workable, a big change from before.

And room even for canisters underneath. Huzzah! I'm loving my kitchen more and more!

Color, Glorious Color...

Here is my fabulous new pantry in glorious, glorious Deep Blue. With fabric for a curtain chosen from IKEA. (It will be sewn into a curtain and hung as soon as I get a small tension rod for it.)

A shot of the door too. Which I never would have thought to paint without a gentle kick from my painting pal. Awesome!! I decided whatever didn't fit back on the pantry shelves in an uncluttered fashion will have to go.

And the new curtain and rug in the playroom/back living room. Small touches with big impact. I'm still working on finishing some things and staining the shelving in the rest of the kitchen before the big reveal....

Old Mom

I feel old. I know I'm not. But I still feel o-l-d-e-r. I have a son who just got to experience "the puberty video" at school with his 5th and 6th grade peers. His take on it, "Mom, it was so annoying. They laughed every time they said the word p*nis." This coming from a child who has seen his mother give birth in his living room twice, after which he declared, "I am NEVER having BIRTH with anyone." He read the books years ago about growing up and body changes, so the video information was not new to him. But he wanted to know "they sent me home with deodorant, can I use it?" We determined the answer to that is NO, as he sniffed his underarm and decided it smelled like absolutely nothing. =) Now if we could use the deodorant on his feet...that might be another story.

I was looking at my friend's new updated website and realized that I don't have anyone in cloth diapers. For the first time in 4.5 years. Which is cool and awesome and all that, but last time I checked Blueberry isn't making underwear for 2 year olds. Boring...no shopping for me!

As far as babywearing goes, he's almost past that too. I still have my Kanga and all the rest are in the collection for the evening meeting of the local Babywearing Group. But they are not getting any day to day use. It's a good thing the youngest is still nursing, otherwise I might be at the point in my parenting where all anyone wants from us is to call for delivery pizza and drive them to Blockbuster to rent more games for the Wii. That doesn't sound too bad. More time for knitting I guess. And I suppose I could aways start watching Lost.

Teeth Brushing

Teeth brushing is not a favorite activity with the children in our house. So we decided to let Grandma have a go at it. And to let them stand in the sink.

Strawberry Rhubarb Tarts

I totally stole these from Sabbath. I was going to make strawberry rhubarb pie, but the idea of little mini pies was way more appealing. Quicker too!

Then they fell apart while baking and resembled something that Salvador Dali would have created. Tasted awesome though!!

Goodbye...

Here is the video for James' Aunt Cheryl that was on the news last night. She has terminal cancer and is fighting for a military leave for her son to come home and see her...

Just me...no pictures

So if you check out my blog it would seem like I have done nothing in the last two weeks. That's not true! I just didn't take many pictures of our happenings. We've been busy with soccer, play practice, end of school year volunteering, watching season 3 of Heroes (OK not WE, just ME on that one!) waiting out the rain...etc. Nothing too profound. I'll check in with something more fun later. I promise.
